Natalie Decker Practice Day Recap From Martinsville
MARTINSVILLE, VA – Natalie Decker took to the track at Martinsville Speedway for the first time on Friday, the place where she watched her first ever NASCAR race in person, at the age of 14.
As a rookie, she had a chance to take laps in a morning session for rookie practice. During that session she turned a lap time of 20.847.
After a short break, it was time for a full field session of practice. During the first half of practice, Decker ran a best time of 20.758. In the second half of the session she ran a best time of 20.414.
In the final session, Decker found more speed. She ran a mock run at the end of the session and clocked in a 20.231 lap.
“We finished 18th fastest on the day. I wish we were faster, however, we are in a good place for qualifying tomorrow.” Said Decker, “Looking forward to a good qualifying session tomorrow and taking the green flag for the first time here at Martinsville!”
Qualifying gets underway at 10:05 am EDT on Saturday, with the NASCAR Hall of Fame 200 scheduled to get underway at 1:30pm EDT from Martinsville Speedway.
